Makita - Cordless 4 ft. Concrete Vibrator

Some expansion into the various lines of tools is always nice to see, especially when you have so many batteries and would hate to switch tool lines. Makita is moving into the concrete vibrators using the same 18V LXT Lithium-Ion rechargeable. They offer two, the 4 ft. as shown above [BVR450], and the 8 ft. model [BVR850] which offers flexible sound. Now just because it vibrates don’t go getting any bad thoughts… which reminds me of something I once saw done to a reciprocating saw… never mind.

Makita - Portable Bandsaw

These portable bandsaws seem to be getting popular by the manufacturers these days. I posted a video of the Stout-Xband in use last month. Now Makita is offering their version which uses the standard LXT Lithium-Ion 18V batteries. See it on the Makita site here

Dremel Duo 2

Dremel has a combo kit of the Driver (little compact drill), which I’ve been thinking of getting, and the Stylus, called “Dremel Duo™ 2-Tool Kit” - I guess the 2 stands for version 2 since duo stand for two and I don’t see 4 tools… or would you multiply that? My old Dremel is wired, and as some of you know by now, I hate wires, plugs, extensions…

Coming from the old school Dremel user, what I always hated was the grip on the tool. But the new ones have this really impressive grip, for palm as well as fingers. Also the thing that takes me so much time is changing bits on my drill, wish I would have two at times. But this gives a better alternative, small and compact Driver can offer an alternative to the big drill since it gets into smaller places and is light and small. Anyways, just thought I’d let you know… that I’m old, old school that is.

See Dremel site for more details, they also include list of various resellers. Here ya go…

This dood, Larry King (not the “Live” one, another one) drops his DeWalt cordless drill into the river, after a diver offers to fetch it for him, he changes the battery and it still works. So don’t despair if you know a friend that’s into diving… and you dropped your drill into a river… and it’s been less then 10 days. Read more about his story including tiny pictures on DeWalt’s site…

This kinda inspires me to start a “Incredible Tool Survival Stories” thread so we can see if others have stories to share!

bosch-brutetough-15618

If your the type of person that wants a tool that will probably outlive the life of your family pet, take a look at the Brute Tough (can’t quite figure out if there’s a space between the two!) line from Bosch, over the predecessors of this line, they claim: “The 15618 18V BruteTough hammer drill/driver, for example, runs 500 RPM faster, delivers 50 in/lbs more torque and offers a two-times increase in BPM compared to the Bosch 13618-2G it replaces.” See more on the press release and images in this combo kit. Let me know if you’ve see a review somewhere out there?
