Bosch Stainless Steel Jig Saw Blades

Bosch is introducing jig saw blades that last longer and costs less then carbide. Compared to the standard bi-metal blades, Bosch has altered the composition where they add 8 percent cobalt steel additive in order to increase heat and wear resistance, claims are by factor of two times longer life.

The Stainless Steel blades are suited for cutting thin and medium gauge steels. They are available in 18-TPI for 8 to 16 gauge steel and 36-TPI for thinner steel, from 16 to 26 gauge.

Information should be, if not already there, on their accessory page here…

DeWALT is offering their new Lithium Ion batteries that will fit both the old and new tools. As some of you know, Lithium usually offers more power for less weight as well as no battery memory, which means you don’t have to wrap a rubber band around your trigger (or some funny contraptions I’ve come up with) to run your tool till the battery completely dies out… I’m not a fan of useless tool wear especially at the price they cost. easycoper.com

I’ve been looking at doing some moldings recently, I was interested in mixing a little victorian with modern in the house, wanted a room that gave a different feel. Well like many other projects I haven’t gotten around to it. But I ran across this cool little jig to cut copings, apparently it can be quite the job as most use a hand coping saw (little saw blade). However this simple jig, the EasyCoper, gives you the speed in using a powered jig saw.

The EasyCoper consists of two light-weight, plastic jigs (one left, the other right hand cuts). The really simple aid allows you to cut molding with a power jig saw instead of a coping saw. That means less wrist, hand and arm stress.

The web site with pics is here here… and direct jump to demo videos showing how it’s done here…

Incra: modular jig and fixture platform

This sounds interesting, Incra introduced a jig and fixture plaform, could be interesting for those light portable table saws, I find mine just doesn’t have enough space but the portability is nice. See the video on their site.
