That’s right, be creative, you just about have everything in the workshop. Sit back and enjoy as this master chef takes you to new shop skill heights. Besides it’s Friday afternoon!

Going by his dialog, or script, it looks like this guy has watched a lot of cooking shows before hand. Well done.

Makita - Cordless 4 ft. Concrete Vibrator

Some expansion into the various lines of tools is always nice to see, especially when you have so many batteries and would hate to switch tool lines. Makita is moving into the concrete vibrators using the same 18V LXT Lithium-Ion rechargeable. They offer two, the 4 ft. as shown above [BVR450], and the 8 ft. model [BVR850] which offers flexible sound. Now just because it vibrates don’t go getting any bad thoughts… which reminds me of something I once saw done to a reciprocating saw… never mind.

Got to love the Black & Decker Alligator Lopper commercial, the part with the guy cutting a branch with a chain saw and the actor is pushing the blade into the earth to demonstrate that it’s ‘Dangerous’. All it takes is a log and foot! But anyways, the Alligator Lopper is a innovative product to say the least. I could see myself going hunting armed with one in each hand. What? Did’t I mention I’m a red-neck?

See the Black & Decker product page here… if what I just said didn’t strike you with horrific images.

Makita - Portable Bandsaw

These portable bandsaws seem to be getting popular by the manufacturers these days. I posted a video of the Stout-Xband in use last month. Now Makita is offering their version which uses the standard LXT Lithium-Ion 18V batteries. See it on the Makita site here

Dremel Duo 2

Dremel has a combo kit of the Driver (little compact drill), which I’ve been thinking of getting, and the Stylus, called “Dremel Duo™ 2-Tool Kit” - I guess the 2 stands for version 2 since duo stand for two and I don’t see 4 tools… or would you multiply that? My old Dremel is wired, and as some of you know by now, I hate wires, plugs, extensions…

Coming from the old school Dremel user, what I always hated was the grip on the tool. But the new ones have this really impressive grip, for palm as well as fingers. Also the thing that takes me so much time is changing bits on my drill, wish I would have two at times. But this gives a better alternative, small and compact Driver can offer an alternative to the big drill since it gets into smaller places and is light and small. Anyways, just thought I’d let you know… that I’m old, old school that is.

See Dremel site for more details, they also include list of various resellers. Here ya go…

Book: The New Complete Guide to the Band Saw

I have to admit that my band saw and I haven’t been on best talking terms. Mostly due to issues on her side that didn’t contribute to a smooth start in our relationship. Then just as she started working out her faults I realized it was my turn to correct my faults, that is letting go of the past. It’s been a long road, but we are working things out now, we both know we have to take it slow. You see she arrived with a loose rubber wheel strap that would jump off and then throw the blade right out of wheel tracks. But her company just wanted to send me parts and not admit there was an issue, and waited and waited while getting more disappointed each day.

So in order to get self help, I was searching for fence guides and add on tools. I came across this really amazing book called The New Complete Guide to the Band Saw and wanted to share with you. You can check out many details of the book before buying but if you own a band saw, I think just looking at a couple of pages might convince you like it did me. Have a look here…

Send me any feedback, I’ll be posting mine in days to come.

Logo caption of www.lovemyplace.com

www.LoveMyPlace.com is a “female-freindly” blog about home improvement. Featuring writeups on cordless tools, drills all the way to home maintenance and financing. I sometimes get questions from friends that are green to tools and lets face it, I don’t consider myself an expert, but I have some saw dust on my hands. Sometimes I tend to forget the basics of what lead me to buy that beast of a drill, or router that does everything. Then when I’m asked by someone “what should I get”, I lean towards a “get what i got, can’t go wrong” sort of attitude. But in reality it most likely isn’t the case for their needs. In fact there is no straight answer appart from what is clearly crap to avoid.

So I consider this site very useful for these types of questions, it’s like everything else, jump in and take a chance ot buying the right thing, or read and research a little before and avoid wasted money and disapointement. Here is a direct link to “Buying your first drill” here…
